Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Drop of ocean, ocean or pearls

Foam, vapours, steam, clouds

Or falling rain on mount peaks.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Brook, stream, river or sea

Fruit, flower or seed of tree

Or a mystery within me.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Bamboo wood, bamboo stem or flute

Piper, piercing melodious tune of lute

Or  the effect of it in mum and mute.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Candle, candle light or moth

His urge or to end sloth

Or his death in divine bath.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Blossom, flower, nectar or bee

Bulbul singing on branch of a tree

Or garden with its enthralling beauty.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Holy river, elixir or Sikandar

In world of darkness who wander

To get eternity and grandeur.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Darkness, inkling or rational reason

Light of reason or crown of creation

Or service to mankind or devotion.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Bird of prey or prey of bird

Arrow, bow, dagger or sword

Fire, smithy, anvil or ironsmith's word.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Cotton, thread or yarn spun

Spinning wheel or its round and run

Or beat or throbbing one by one.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Vision, sight or tear of eye

Cosmos present in the sigh

If you see with luminary eye.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Love, beloved or crazy lover

Liala, Qays,  Shirein or Farhad suicider

Heer, Ranja, Yousuf Zulaikha, cloak tearer.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Saint Mansoor or his crucifier

His corpse' ash from burnt fire

Or his claim of Analhaq on podium of dire.

Sometimes I wonder, what am I?

Nothing, lost in something final

Nay to oneself for Thyself to be vernal

Or self denying to be ever and eternal.
